HOPE Meetings

This program gives opportunities to excellent graduate students in the Asia-Pacific and Africa regions to engage in interdisciplinary discussions with Nobel Laureates and other distinguished scientists pioneering new knowledge.
It is hoped that the experience which students gain at the meeting will inspire and motivate them to become excellent scientists able to shoulder the future of science and technology in the region.
The participants in the 10th HOPE Meeting in 2018 will comprise PhD students and young researchers from the following countries:

The participants will comprise about 25 PhD students from the institutions in Japan and young researchers and 75 selected PhD students and young researchers from countries/areas of the Asia-Pacific and Africa region;
Australia, Bangladesh, China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Kenya, Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Vietnam

This program started in 2007, and Egypt has sent participants to the meetings since the 4th meeting held in 2012. JSPS’s cooperating institution in Egypt, the Ministry of Higher Education, selects the Egyptian nominees for each meeting.
