World Premier International Research Center Initiative (WPI)

Launched in 2007 by Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT),
WPI support the creation of globally visible research centers with top-level research standards and outstanding international environments. Each center hosts world-class principal investigators, maintains 30% or more foreign researchers, uses English as the primary working language, and receives up to JPY 7 billion in funding over 10 years.

The project combines modern science with local heritage to preserve natural resources.
Its digital platform shares research, activities, and publications with the public.
Ultimately, SOS-WAHA promotes a balanced future for oasis societies in Egypt.

The “researchmap” is a database which comprehensively collects and provides data on research institutions and researchers, etc. relating to the universities and public institutions in Japan.
