These programs provide outstanding researchers from overseas with opportunities to conduct collaborative research, engage in discussions, and exchange opinions with researchers in Japan. The fellowships are designed to support the research activities of invited scholars while contributing to the advancement of science and the promotion of internationalization in Japan.
The JSPS Invitational Fellowships for Research in Japan offer two types of programs:
- Long-term – Applications are submitted once a year.
- Short-term – Applications are accepted twice a year.
In both cases, applicants must be invited by a host researcher in Japan, with the application submitted through the head of the host’s university or institution. Selection is carried out through a competitive review process.
