JSPS promotes international scientific exchange between Japan and counterpart countries based on agreements and memoranda concluded with academies, research councils, and other science-promotion organizations. These programs mainly take the form of joint research projects and joint seminars.
There are two types of joint research projects/seminars:
- Bilateral Joint Projects/Seminars with JSPS’s Counterpart Institutions (Type A)
- Open Partnership Joint Research Projects/Seminars (Type B) with researchers from around the world residing in countries that maintain diplomatic relations with Japan
In the case of Egypt, JSPS’s counterpart institution is the : Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MHESR), with its affiliated agency, the Science, Technology and Innovation Funding Authority (STDF) , responsible for implementing these programs.
The joint research projects cover the natural sciences, while the joint seminars include the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences.
