The JSPS Alumni Association in Egypt (JSPSAAE) was founded in Egypt in 2008 by a circle of former fellows who had been supported by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), and currently has around 85 members. We have a general assembly for all members once a year when the science forum is held.

To all dear colleagues and members of the Board of Directors and the members of the Association for the cooperation and continued support in facilitating the Association’s mission to support and benefit its members, young researchers as well as the Egyptian scientific community at large. I would also like to extend my appreciation to Prof. Naoko Fukami, Director of JSPS Research Office in Cairo for the full moral and financial support to make these activities a success. I also extend my sincere thanks to the Japanese embassy in Cairo for the highly recognized contribution to all the Alumni activities. . I would like also to take this opportunity to thank my dear friend and colleague, Prof. Dr. Gad El Qady, National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) the Editor-in-chief of NL for his great efforts and genuine help to make the Newsletter “Horus” a success.
The Association’s pioneering role is supporting networks among the Alumni members and the Japanese host researchers, encouraging young researchers to benefit from the Alumni activities through the transfer of knowledge and experience across all scientific disciplines from the respected specialized members of the Association as well as inviting eminent scientists from Egypt and Japan. The Association’s march this year has been marked by numerous activities . On the other hand, we will continue our constructive efforts to foster further cooperation with similar scientific bodies inside and outside Egypt in terms of organizing joint scientific conferences and events. Objectives of JSPSAAE

The objective of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Alumni Association in Egypt (JSPSAAE) is to promote scientific exchange with Japan and to provide a platform for networking among the members. There are respected number of active members participating in seminars and other activities organized by JSPSAAE in the Egyptian universities and research institutes.

Membership Information

Membership Admissions Requirements

Researchers who had been funded by a JSPS Fellowship Program during their stays in Japan, and returned to Egypt.
Payment of the annual membership fee.

Membership benefits

Lectures by distinguished speakers including Nobel laureates.
Networking: communicate & connect with other researchers in Egypt and Japan.
Eligibility for the BRIDGE fellowship, which supports revisiting Japanese institutions to reconnect with researchers in Japan.
Eligibility to apply for the new JSPSAAE Seminar Program, which supports academic seminars hosted by association members to promote Egypt-Japan research collaboration and strengthen and advance research networks.
